Re-construction of Concert Garden Pūt, vējiņi in Liepaja

A sketch design is done for a participation in the architectural competition in Liepaja, Latvia. The architectural concept is based on two important circumstances, characterizing the current situation – a garden for concerts and other events, bounded from strong winds, but open from all sides, protecting outside from concert noise.

Following the proposal is as a big seaside dune with the garden in the middle. Other words all buildings are located inside, they are opened to the garden, but from outside they are covered by sand. The sand is planted by dune grasses and bushes. The roof is green as well. In such solution the green façade is dominating in the park landscape and from most of viewpoints the complex looks more as park, not as a building. The sand slope moves all the winds up and across the garden.
