Reconstruction of the Laboratory and Reception Department in Ventspils

Building design deals with the significant reconstruction of the Reception Department and laboratory premises of the Northern Kurzeme Regional Hospital, transforming it into a modern part of the hospital, which fully ensures the service of scheduled and acute patient flows. The department provides the premises of the diagnostic department, providing convenient access to X-ray and computed tomography examinations, the possibility of providing first aid, intensive therapy beds, as well as rooms for the medical staff. The existing laboratory building has been replaced with modern open-type laboratory work spaces with easy access from a new hospital corridor connecting the existing buildings.

The goal of an architectural solution is not to stand out, but to blend in. The hospital building was built at different times and consists of several, mutually different blocks, so the choice was in favor of a maximally simple and neutral solution. Interior solutions are based on natural shades of the seaside - Ventspils, a city located by the sea, grass, sedges, sand, shells in nacre tone.
